In Berner Oberland next to Lauteraarhorn (4042 m.) stands Schreckhorn, one of the less frequently climbed four-thousanders. The normal route up it's SW ridge is graded D- and besides that it has a few other extraordinary routes to offer as well.
I climbed Schreckhorn through the normal route in July 2006. There were three parties starting from the Schreckhorn Hut early in the morning but I ended up being the only summiteer besides Mountain Guide Heinz Mueller and his guest. We enjoyed the most beautiful day of the summer on the summit before the two continued taking the knife-edge crest to Lauteraarhorn while I headed down for Weissbier and Bratwurst.
